We love going for P.E. with Mrs. Foster, our P.E. teacher, and she enjoys having the Nursery as part of her school sessions. Usually we do all our learning in the school hall but recently Mrs. Foster has been taking us out into the sunshine to develop our skills which has been a lovely change. Here is one of our sessions where the children are learning to jump and to control a hoop in different ways – what a great fun learning experience!

Lovely Lollies
We cannot believe how lucky we have been with the weather for the last few weeks and so many of the children have been taking advantage of the sunshine to play outdoors for much of the session. Here are a few taking a welcome break from their busy play with a refreshing ice lolly. You can’t beat a nice cool treat on a hot summer’s day.
Buddies
Enid’s family has been looking of the photos of the Primary 6 buddies meeting our children’s families:
“Really lovely to have the opportunity to meet Enids buddy Katy, Enid is very fond of her. I think it’s a great idea to buddy the nursery children up with a P6 pupil, I think it will really help Enid settle into school.”
Thank you for your kind comment. We are certainly very impressed with our buddies and think that they will make a big difference to the children as they move to Primary 1.
Where Are Our Butterflies?
When asked where they think our butterflies will fly to, the children in the morning produced some lovely ideas.
Olivia: to meet some new animals.
Evan G: to see the cows up at the farm.
Kobe: go to the flowers to eat.
Remy: to see the horses.
Matthew: to McDonald’s.
Crue: to make some new friends.
Aoife: to see some flowers.
Penny: they might go to the sunflowers.
Louie: to find some vegetables like tomatoes.
Eadie: to see the daisies.
Fraser: to the lake.
Leah: they go onto the buttercups.
Jasmin: to Dino Park.
Priya: I think all of them are going to fly to my back garden.
Tom: to America – it would take 1000 days.
Brooke: to Hetland to eat the flowers.
Keep your eyes peeled boys and girls – you never know where you might see them.

Where Would You Fly?
As the children in the afternoon waved their little butterflies goodbye, we asked them where they would like to fly to if they were butterflies.
James: I would fly to my Grandad’s farm. It won’t take me long to fly.
Safoora: on a tree.
Letti: I would fly on a balloon.
Mason: on a house. I would eat fruit.
Joshua: I would fly on a tree and dig a hole and find a door with key and lock it.
Emilia H: to a tree house with flowers and a barbecue.
Frankie: I would go into a bush of daffodils.
Archie: fly to Disney World.
Kyle: I would like to fly into a tree. It will have green leaves.
Bethany: I would fly in trees. I would find food and eat oranges, strawberries and bananas.
Jagoda: I would fly on a balloon to the garden.
Oscar: I would find a house with a garden and live in it.
Tom: I would fly in the trees.
Ally-May: I would like to fly in Scotland.
Tiana-Rose: fly to a garden with flowers and I would be happy.
Bye Bye Butterflies
It seems like they have been in Nursery for a long time but, after caring for them, we finally released the butterflies that the children had observed so closely from being little caterpillars. Although they did not seem keen to leave us, Miss Kerr gave them a helping hand to settle on our plants in the outdoor area which gave everyone a chance to have a close look at our little butterflies before we waved them goodbye. Here are the morning children giving them a fond farewell.
Word Of The Week
Our “Word of the Week” this week will be audience as we begin to talk about our end of year graduation and practise a few songs.
Congratulations
Huge congratulations to last week’s award winners. We hope that you are very proud of your certificates.
Barbecue
Please remember our barbecue tomorrow night (6 – 8pm) organised by Hecklegirth Fundraisers. There are lots of fun activities for the family and money raised is used to benefit all the children in our school.
It is thanks to this hardworking group that all our Nursery children will have a free outing to Farmer’s Den soon to celebrate the end of our year so we hope that lots of our families will be able to support this event.
