We would like to remind you that tomorrow, Thursday 30th November (11.35 and 2.40), and Friday 1st December (11.35) are the days when parents are coming in to Nursery to read with their children. Thank you to those who have expressed an interest in this activity. We look forward to seeing you then.

Hecklegirth Hairdressers
I wonder if anyone is in need of a new hairstyle in preparation for the festive season? We have a great team of hairdressers who are very busy in Nursery if you would like to stay to play and experience a new style created by them. As you can see, they have been on the phone booking in appointments and trying out a range of equipment as part of their role play. I wonder if we have any hairdressers of the future here?
Aim High Hecklegirth
We would like to pass on a message from Mrs. Alexander, our Headteacher.
“It is with much sadness that I report to you of a break-in school last weekend. Lap-tops, I-pads, hard drives and walkie-talkies are among the items taken. Every room was entered and items were removed using the green recycling bags, of all things! The locked doors in the staffroom and Headteacher’s office were broken down to allow them further access.
We are most grateful to our local police and CID for their support throughout the day, their quick retrieval of many of the stolen items and subsequent arrest of the culprits. Our records show that 249 texts were sent and delivered at 7.40am by the school office with only 7 not receiving this, mostly due to signal problems and old mobile numbers being on record. Thankyou for your support and understanding at such short notice- it is very much appreciated.
Our pupils and staff are very upset at the intrusion of the school and the theft of our resources, some of which were purchased through fund-raising. However our school community is united in not allowing the poor decisions of others affect the positive futures of our young people! Aim high, Hecklegirth!”
PEEP With Playdough
Parents/carers from the Sunshine Room who joined in the PEEP sessions with Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, seemed to have fun making various types of play dough last week and the children certainly took part with enthusiasm.
Please remember that Eileen will not be available for the PEEP session tomorrow, 28th November, but she should be back with you next week. I wonder what fun activity she will have in store for you all then? Thank you Eileen for organising this great session.

Kandinsky Artists
We have been learning about the work of the artist Kandinsky in Nursery. A range of media has been used to create artwork in his style and the children have been amazed and delighted to be able to produce a piece of art that looks similar to that of a famous artist. We hope that enjoy our little Kandinsky gallery. I wonder if the children can find their own work?
Please and Thank You
As part of our Health and Wellbeing learning we have been talking about when to say “please” and “thank you”. We read a story called “The Elephant and the Bad Baby” to stimulate our discussions. Here are some of the children’s thoughts.
Brooke: when your Mum gets your tea.
Olivia B.: you say “thank you” when someone gives you sweets.
Holly-Mae: I say “thank you” to the ladies in Nursery when I get snack.
Evan G.: I say “please” when I get sweets.
Frankie: when someone gives me something I say “thank you”.
Enid: you say “thank you” when people come to your house.
Kobe: when people give you something.
Jasmin: when I got sweeties for Hallowe’en from Mum and Dad I said “thank you”.
Cali: I would say “please” for juice.
James: I say “thank you” when I get special treats.
Annalise: I say “thank you” when Mummy gives me something special.
We are delighted that our children are learning good manners and hope that they keep this up as they get older.
Photo Comments
Iona, one of our older pupils in school, left a “Well Done” comment for one of our recent award winners. It’s great to know that some of our school pupils are taking an interest in the Nursery blog so thank you Iona for taking the time to leave a comment.
Bethany’s Mum also enjoyed the photos from our Children In Need Day”:
“What a great photo of Joshua and Bethany together. Everyone looked great x”
They do look happy together. It was lovely to see the children in all their different outfits that day and, as you can see below, we raised a great total.
