As tomorrow is Chinese New Year, both the morning and the afternoon children performed a dragon dance along the school corridor to visit a few of the classrooms. As you can see, we took both our dragons along and got a great reception from lots of people along the way. It was lovely to visit different rooms, including Primary 1, where some of the children will be pupils next year, and Primary 5/6 where it was great to see the Primary 6 buddies who usually come to visit us.
Thank you to all the staff and pupils who made us feel so welcome with our dragon dancing and well done to Nursery boys and girls for showing great confidence in the wider school environment. Gung Hay Fat Choy!

New Entrance
As our building works are about to commence, the usual Nursery entrance is now fenced off and inaccessible. From today, 15th February, we will use the old Primary 1 entrance doors to enter Nursery while our building work is taking place. A member of staff will be available to guide you to our new entrance. Plans of how the new Nursery will look continue to be displayed in the corridor beside the yellow cloakroom area. Thank you for your patience.
Careful Work
As we are learning about Chinese New Year, the children have been developing their fine motor skills in the art area by using fine brushes to attempt painting Chinese words and numerals. As you can see, they have been careful in their work and lots of children have been keen to try out this activity. Very Well Done
Nursery Holiday
We would like to remind everyone that there will be no Nursery for the children on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of next week due to a mid-term holiday and two training days for staff. We hope that you all enjoy a few days off and look forward to seeing you on Thursday 15th February.
Dancing Dragon
The morning children made their own decisions when planning their Chinese dragon as part of our learning about Chinese New Year and, as you can see, their dragon is quite different from the one made by the afternoon children although glitter was still very popular as part of the decoration.
All we need to do now is practise dancing with our dragon so that we look just like the real Chinese dragons that we have watched on the computer.
Chinese Dragon
As our learning moves on to the celebrations of Chinese New Year, the children decided that they would like to make their own dragon after watching a clip on the internet of Chinese dragon dances. We provided them with a selection of materials and the children thought about how we could make a dragon and what they wanted it to look like.
Here are the afternoon children very busy last week with their discussions and dragon making.
Parent and Child Reading
Keeping Children Safe Online
We would like to remind you of the invitation to our NSPCC Adult Workshop to raise awareness of the best way of keeping children safe online. This will be held tomorrow, Tuesday 6th February at 2.00 in school. All adults from within the school community are welcome to attend and we hope that you find this useful.
