Quinn’s family has been looking at the photos of the children making apple crumble:
“Quinn really enjoyed making her crumble. She kept it for her Dad to eat for pudding. Xx”
That was kind of you Quinn. I hope your Dad enjoyed it.

As work on our outdoor area developed last term, the children learned how to use tools safely so some took the opportunity to practise their skills when we decided to turn some tree trunks into outdoor seating. As you can see, this super little team worked away with the hammer and chisel to remove some of the outer bark and then got to work with a paintbrush and varnish to give them a shiny finish. We think that they did a great job. Good teamwork boys and girls.
As part of our learning about Autumn, the children developed a good awareness of the changing colours of the leaves at this time of year. This learning developed further in the art area as some experimented to mix different shades of paint which were then used for vegetable printing. The children produced some lovely work which is now displayed in Nursery and the school corridor. We hope that you enjoy our little taster here of some of the artists at work. The afternoon children used lots of different skills when they made apple crumble towards the end of term. They listened well to follow instructions and produced tasty crumbles from their hard work. I wonder if anyone’s having a go at some cooking in the holidays?
Towards the end of term we decided to make apple crumble as we had a lovely big basket of apples brought in by several different people. The children were able to learn about the importance of hygiene and safety in the kitchen, fine motor control, counting and chopping skills, using the technology of a microwave and the effect of heat on the apples.
Here you can see the morning children demonstrating some of their skills. Afternoon photos will be posted soon.
Nursery and school is now closed for two weeks but keep an eye on our blog as there are some photos from our first term still to be posted. We hope that everyone has a lovely holiday with their families. Please click on the link below to read the school end of term newsletter.
Patrick’s family has been looking at the photos of him making bread to cook on the fire. He enjoyed tasting the marshmallows too.
“Clever boy Patrick 👍. What a fab time you’re having Patrick! ☺”
“Patrick said the marshmallows were delicious😋😋”
Everyone seemed to enjoy the bread that Patrick helped to make and the marshmallows were certainly very popular.
Two more of our families have commented on the children’s singing:
“It was lovely to watch the kids sing yesterday. Bethany sings these songs every day.”
“Gutted that I wasn’t able to make it this time, however Olivia has been singing her songs non stop at home and teaching the songs and actions to her little sister!! She told me the singing‘went good’ at nursery! 🙂”
It’s lovely to hear that the children have been singing their songs at home. It sounds like Olivia’s little sister will be a star by the time she comes to Nursery herself with Olivia teaching her lots of songs.
Isaac’s family has left a lovely comment about the children’s performance of their Autumn songs:
“Was lovely to hear all the boys and girls singing today. Isaac had been practising lots at home so was really looking forward to it. Well done everyone!”
Well done Isaac for practising at home. It’s good to hear that you have enjoyed learning these songs.
Thank you to all the family and friends who were able to watch the children’s performance today of the Autumn songs that they have been learning. We really appreciate your support in providing a wonderful audience for the children and we hope that you enjoyed their performance as much as they seemed to.
One of our aims is to develop ‘confident individuals’ and many of our children showed themselves to be exactly that in performing in front of a large audience. Well done boys and girls! We think that your families were as proud of you as we were.
