Welcome

natAs well as Mrs. Carruthers and Miss Calvert, we have a student who started with us last week and will be attending our Nursery every Wednesday. Miss Natalia Franecka is an NC Early Education and Childcare student from Dumfries College and we look forward to her placement in our Nursery all year. Welcome to our Nursery Natalia. We hope that you enjoy your time with us.

Happy Families

We have had more lovely comments on the recent Family Learning activities.

“Harvey (M) and I really enjoyed this make and take session and look forward to doing some more!”

“Joshua (H) loved this day doing make & take. I enjoyed it myself also, getting to spend a little bit of time with Joshua making things & seeing how much he enjoys doing things like this at nursery. Thank you for that opportunity.”

“The leaf lantern and chocolate sparklers were really easy to make and we have made lots of chocolate sparklers at home!😋
Thank you Eileen for this session we really enjoyed it.”

I spoke to Eileen today about all the positive comments that had been posted about her activities and she is very grateful for all the lovely feedback so thank you to everyone. She is doing these activities in another school this week so we hope that they enjoy themselves as much as Hecklegirth families did.

What Fun!

Noah and Joshua H’s families have left comments on our photos showing the children with sparklers.

“What fun there is to be had in nursery!”

“Joshua looks like he’s concentrating on something. Great to see the fun & safety of sparklers.”

Thank you for taking the time to leave us comments. The children really did enjoy the sparklers and listened well to all the discussions about staying safe.

Safe Sparkles

After the excitement of Hallowe’en, inevitably we quickly moved on to discuss Bonfire Night experiences and no learning about Bonfire Night is complete, of course, without a discussion about staying safe.
Rather than simply talking about the dangers of fire and fireworks, we made our own little fire one day last week to help us talk about safety and on Friday we held some sparklers. The children showed a good understanding of how to stay safe and were very sensible when handling their sparklers. Well done boys and girls.

Thank You

Olivia’s family enjoyed Eileen’s activities on Friday:

“Thank you Eileen, we had a fabulous time! The leaf lamp takes pride of place on our fire place. We also made a huge batch of chocolate sparklers today that Olivia gave out to her family to celebrate bonfire night, although ate quite a few herself!! 🙂”

These chocolate sparklers seem to have been very popular. That was a nice idea Olivia to make them for your family – I’m sure they enjoyed them as much as you did.

Leaf Lamps and Chocolate Sparklers

Two more families have left comments about the Family Learning ‘Autumn Make and Take’ activity this week.

“Callum and I would like to say thank you to Eileen for an excellent day of making and taking. ( I have to say Eileen hasnt changed a bit since I was last there ) She still looks fab!🤗😉
Callum couldn’t wait to take it home to show his dad and sisters. We have already made some more of the chocolate treats at home.”

“Bethany loved making the leaf lamps and the chocolate sparkles. We have continued to make these at home”

It sounds like lots of chocolate sparklers will be made in Annan this weekend.

Eileen also left a comment after her ‘Make and Take’ activities:

“It was lovely to see everyone at the make and take sessions this week. I know that lots of you are going to make chocolate sparklers this weekend-enjoy”.

Thank you again Eileen for all your hard work. Everyone seems to have had a great time.

Happy Friends

Bethany and Quinn’s families have been looking at the photos of Hallowe’en.

“Bethany loves dressing up and looks happy with the other kids. She loves coming to nursery”

“Too cute! The 3 amigos. We are so proud of the friendships Quinn is forming at nursery. Xx”

It is lovely to see the children growing in confidence and developing friendships.

Welcome

miss-cWe would like to welcome Miss Ashleigh Calvert to our Nursery on placement. She is a fourth year B.A. (Hons) student in Childhood Studies at the University of West Scotland.
Miss Calvert will be here for the next week or two and then will return in February for her final placement. She has enjoyed getting to know the children this week and is looking forward to the rest of her time with us.
