Building Materials

Last week we took delivery of a huge pile of wood, thanks to Mr. Raymond Kerr of Kerr’s Sawmill. The children loved being in charge of these new building materials and helped to organise them in the Nursery garden. Almost immediately, several children showed great imagination and started to build their own dens, leading the way in the play and guiding others in good teamwork.
We would like to thank Mr. Kerr for his generous donation and look forward to many happy hours of problem-solving, construction and den building in the Nursery garden.

More Party Photos

As promised, here are some photos of the afternoon children having fun at their party on Wednesday. Don’t they look fantastic in their party clothes?

We would like to wish all our children and their families a Happy Christmas. We want to thank you for your support this term and look forward to seeing you all at the start of next term which is January 8th for the children.

Party Fun!

Dancing, games and party food make for a good Christmas party and we had them all at our parties. The children had planned their games and helped to make some of the food which made it more exciting for them. Most of them certainly seemed to enjoy the cakes and jellies that they had made themselves.
The children’s behaviour was excellent and it was lovely to see the children from the Rainbow and Sunshine Rooms playing happily and confidently together. Santa had promised that, if their singing was good enough, he would come to the party and everyone seemed very pleased to see him. One or two even took the chance to slip a last minute letter to him, just as a reminder for next week. Thank you, Santa, for taking time to visit us at such a busy time for you.

The photos below give you a taste of our morning party. Photos of the afternoon party will follow soon.

Cooking is Fun!

We like Finlay’s Mum’s comment on the photo of him tasting the cake mixture:
“Finlay was making sure the cakes are going to taste good.Yummy!”

We are also excited to hear about Ollie’s plans for baking tonight:
“Ollie is baking shortbread tonight for all the lucky nursery teachers. He had so much fun this term at nursery, especially in the run up to Christmas. If his shortbread doesn’t work out then we have a box of sweeties on standby.
Thanks again. X”

Thank you Ollie for such a lovely thought. We’ll look forward to tasting your shortbread tomorrow. Have lots of fun making it!

Party Preparations

Tomorrow is party day in Nursery so the children have been busy making all the necessary preparations. They decided that they would like cakes, Angel Delight and jelly at the party so today has been spent making them.
As you can see, some of the children have had a great time in the kitchen, learning lots of different skills and the fridges are now full, ready for tomorrow. We hope that everyone has a great time.

Singing With Smiles

What wonderful smiles the children had when performing Christmas songs to their families on Friday. The last minute phone call from Santa in the Sunshine Room seemed to produce some lovely singing so we hope that he keeps his side of the bargain and is able to come to our party on Wednesday.
With around 200 family members in the audience between the two performances, we think that the children have certainly shown how their confidence has grown since they started in Nursery. They were so excited to perform on the stage and we hope that you enjoyed it as much as they did.

Here are some photos of the children getting ready for their performance.

Merry Christmas

Eileen has left a message for everyone who has enjoyed the Family Learning activities this term.

“Thanks to everyone who came to Christmas crafts. Hope you all have a merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all in 2013. I will be in touch towards the end of January with information about a growing families project.”

Thanks to you Eileen for making all our families so welcome. We are looking forward to the growing project in the new year.

Christmas Family Learning

Thank you to Madison and Imogen’s Mums for adding your comments to the photos of the children making Christmas crafts with you. Hopefully the decorations are brightening the homes of everyone who took part.

“had great fun, helping madison make some decorations, and she loved it too,she loved showing everyone what she made x”

“Imogen and I had a great time making the xmas crafts and her big brother and daddy thought they were brilliant! Thanks to all involved.”

Christmas Crafts

Thanks must go again to Eileen, our Family Learning Co-ordinator, for providing super Christmas craft activities for children and their families to enjoy together. It’s been great to see that four sessions offered by Eileen have been full and hopefully, lots of homes in Annan are now looking more festive with the crafts produced. It seemed that the Mums, Dads, Grannies and little brothers and sisters enjoyed Eileen’s activities as much as the Nursery children so it really was a Family Learning experience.

Thanks Eileen. We look forward to more Family Learning after Christmas when the story, rhyme and number sacks will continue to be given out every week and some different activities will be on offer.
