Welcome to our new Primary 7 blog

Mrs Robertson and Primary 7 hope that you will enjoy reading about our learning experiences both in class, around school and in the wider community through our class blog.

This is a very important year for P7 pupils as we are in our final year of primary school and prepare to embark on our new learning experiences at High School.  Last term we were visited by 2nd year pupils from St John’s High School who acted as Peer Educators.  They helped us to answer any queries we had about St. John’s and as a result we feel more confident and ready for our transition.

We were visited in class by Mrs Sinclair and Ms Divers on Tuesday 7th February where we were again given opportunities to ask questions and discuss any concerns.

This term, we are going to continue our focus on having a Growth Mindset and an, “I can’t do this yet”, “I will try” and “I can do this” attitude to help best prepare ourselves for starting First Year in August.

We hope you enjoy listening to a song we sang at our Celebrating Success Assembly in the first term of P7. This song is by Shakira and features on the movie Zootropolis.

The words are very significant to us as they encourage us to “try everything”, and not to give up when the going gets tough.

Primary 7 took place in an annual Dundee Primary School’s Scottish Country Dance Festival on Friday 3rd February 2017 at St Andrew’s Primary School.

In preparation for the Dance Festival, pupils learned a variety of Scottish Country Dances during weekly P.E. lessons.

Getting ready for the parade.

Dances included:- Flying Scotsman, Dashing White Sergeant, Simon’s Dance, Reel for Jeannie, Virginia Reel, Cumberland Reel, Gay Gordon’s, Military Two Step, Canadian Barn Dance and the Circassian Circle.

Primary 7 enjoyed practising these dances and Mrs Robertson even managed to have a dance with a few of the P7 boys 🙂  We particularly enjoyed the Flying Scotsman, Military Two Step and the Gay Gordon’s.

At the Festival, we had a parade around the hall then quickly got into our sets to start the Flying Scotsman – Choo Choo!

Mrs Robertson was very proud of the Primary 7 boys and girls attitude throughout the morning’s activities.  Well done everyone 🙂
