Today we met Lucie Maupetit who will be coming in to our class for 7 sessions over the coming weeks to help us to link our learning about minibeasts to our work with French. We enjoyed playing some games and learned 4 French words which we have to practise for next time. These are shown in the photos.

Writing Skills
The Green group has been reading Black Hat Bob and did some lovely writing this week, creating Wanted posters to help catch the thieving pirate, Red Hat Rob. They made sure to explain what he had done wrong, what he looked like and what the reward for finding him would be. They hope to make these look more like real wanted posters later. Here are some examples. They say –
Top Left by Aaminah – Red Hat Rob is rude and freaky. He has a patch and has a sword. If you find him you will get a hundred pounds.
Top Right by Olivia – Red Hat Rob is rude and is a bully. He has a blue pirate coat and grey leggings and a shiny sword and a brown beard. You will get eleven and a hundred pounds.
Bottom Left by Liam S – Red Hat Rod is a thief. He has a sword and a patch. Find him and you will get a hundred pounds.
Bottom Right by David – He is a thief. He has a sword and he has a stripy t-shirt. Find him and get ninety-nine pounds.
Birthday Girl Aaminah is 6
Aaminah’s birthday was on the 10th of May. We sang to her and heard all about her day so far. She was looking forward to going home for some cake and ice lollies! 🙂
We also had a birthday boy, David. Happy birthday David! We couldn’t take his picture because he wasn’t feeling very well that day.
Fact Families
We have been using our adding and taking-away skills to learn about number ‘fact families’. We played some fact family games and then tried to use our skills in some independent tasks. It is tricky, but we are beginning to see the relationship between addition and subtraction and how the numbers work together!
Watch this Space! Lights, Camera, Action!!!
To help next year’s new Primary 1’s get to know our school and meet some of the children and grown-ups before they come in the summer, we are going to be working with the other classes to record a ‘Welcome to our St Ninian’s Family’ mini movie using our i pads. Before we start recording we are going to share some of the things we were worried or unsure about before we came to school. We are also going to tell everyone what we love about our school. Miss Thompson will then put it all together with the help of some older children. We can’t wait to see how it turns out!
