P1- Numbery Challenges

Look at us investigating number in a fun way. we have been learning about the 100 square and how it is full of interesting patterns. We spotted how all of the numbers in the columns share the same end digit. We practised our counting in 10s and tried to spot 10 more and 10 less as well as 1 more and one less. We guessed the hidden numbers and used the spinner to investigate 2 digit numbers in a range of ways. Some of use even spotted that the numbers with 2 digits the same make a big long diagonal line across the 100 square…. amazing work p1!!!

Buddy Numeracy

We worked with our P7 Buddies on some 100 square work, some adding and taking away challenges using our Numicon and other strategies to help us to ‘prove it’ to our buddy when we thought we had an answer. We also impressed them with our ‘fact family’ learning, where we show the link between number relationships. Miss Thompson gave us some tasks and we worked though them independently, showing off our learning and skills and explaining our thinking.

Fact Families

We have been using our adding and taking-away skills to learn about number ‘fact families’.  We played some fact family games and then tried to use our skills in some independent tasks.  It is tricky, but we are beginning to see the relationship between addition and subtraction and how the numbers work together!

Story of 10

We have been using all of our number learning to create these lovely ‘story of 10’ rainbows.  It was a tricky job, but we used our Numicon to help us to see the ‘special friends’ who make 10 if we needed some help.  They match our large rainbow on the window.  This is there to help us to remember the importance of being confident and quick in remembering what numbers add to 10 as this skill is very important.
