Blackness PS – Covid Parent Survival Kit

A Clearing Ahead for Education?

Yesterday’s update from the Scottish Government is encouraging. A return to normality for schools in August would be welcomed by all staff. Of course, this is dependent on several factors, most notably the R rating for Scotland remaining low, or better still, falling.

It will be tempting during the next six weeks to go out and enjoy the weather, meet up with folks we have only seen digitally for the last wee while, and generally make the most of time away from online learning. However, we have seen how this has affected the R number in other countries. As a school we would encourage you to stay safe to allow our education systems the best start in the new term. It will the best result for pupils and the school.

The current guidance from the Scottish Government is:

stay at home as much as possible

  • only go outside for limited purposes
  • stay 2 metres (6 feet) away from other people
  • wash your hands regularly and as soon as you get home
  • wear a face covering on public transport and enclosed public spaces
  • self-isolate if you have symptoms and book a test

By following the advice for just a little bit longer, you will be supporting us all to ensure your child comes back to Blackness to a full classroom setup.

Thank you in advance,
