Red Nose Day!!

It was Red Nose Day today, Comic Relief! We had great fun. We designed our own red noses, completed word searches and learned what Comic relief is all about and how it helps people in need.

We raised money by bringing a £1 into school and wore our PJs, see picture below, we look FAB!!! We also had a cake and candy stall, Zumba and Ceroc sessions. It was tiring.

We also took part in a talent show in the afternoon, our class acts were: FOOTBALLTASTICS – Rory, Aiden, Nathan, Aamir and Dylin, showing their football skills off. Emily was singing a Taylor Swift song, beautifully and Stephanie and Julia did a dance act, they were superb. See act photos below.

It was a great day!!! We hope we raised enough money to help those in great need.

Body Building!

We have been working very hard on our body topic. We have matched body parts independently and work as a group to create a life size model of the human body, complete with organs.

We have learned where the major organs go and what they do. We have also looked at different parts of the body and their function and how to keep them all healthy.

We had fun working together , building our bodies. Please take the time to look at our pictures and leave a comment.

Dundee Science Centre

We visited the Dundee Science Centre on Monday. It was fabulous!! We took part in a science with chemical workshop, where a glass filled with water while upside down!!!

We also took advantage of all the brilliant exhibits and games, the robot was very cool.

The main reason we were there was took take part in the healthy bodies workshop. This was where we meat ‘Stuffy’, a giant doll. We got to take out all Stuffy’s insides and say what we knew and learn about all the different organs in the body. It was great!

When we got back to school we wrote a thank you letter to the Science Centre for such a great morning.

Please look at the pictures of us having fun and leave a comment if you wish too.

Trip reminder!

This entry is just a quick reminder that P2 have a trip to the Dundee Science Centre on Monday 18th Feb. We are really excited and can’t wait to go; however there are still a couple of children that haven’t returned their permission slips. I am hope full though that I will see these on Monday.

Photos will follow!!!

My Body – The start!

We have started our new science topic. It is about our body and how it works. Firstly, we worked in groups to come up with a plan for our topic. We had to say what we already knew, what we wanted to learn and how we wanted to learn it.

We also have nice, colourful displays in our class about the body and our home corner is a doctor’s surgery. Our interactive maths wall is also all about the body.

We have started with the basics looking at our faces and labelling what we know, it was fun. We are also lucky enough to be going on a trip to Dundee Science Centre on Monday 18th Feb. We will post exciting pictures of that too.

If you have any comments please post them on our blog, we love reading them.

Foods From Around The World!!

We have been trying foods from Scotland and around the world in Health and Wellbeing this week. We were working with Ms Gauld, the Healthy Eating Assistant. It was great, we found out about where in the world foods come from and we even got to taste some.

We tried cous cous, olives, prawn crackers, pastas, popodoms, the list goes on. Mrs Munro’s favourite was the olives. WE didn’t really like those, only a few people did.
