Nursery transition to P1

Preparing for School

Due to Covid 19 restrictions and previous guidance, P1 transition has looked differently than in previous years.  Unfortunately transition has been mainly virtual for parents/carers as well as the nursery children  due to guidance on class ‘bubbles’.  We hope this year that we will be able to invite you into school for a tour, meet the staff, taster sessions in the dining hall with the school menu, an information afternoon and much more!

The ELC team work very closely with the Headteacher and P1 teachers to ensure the children are ready for their P1 journey to begin from visiting the library regularly, visits to the infant corridor, visits from P1 teachers and joining school assembly to name a few.  The transition process also often includes events for parents/carers to join their children in school in term 1 of their Primary 1 school year, these include a ‘Come and Play’ session, ‘Come and Read’ session and a Meet the Teacher.  Again, due to Covid 19 restrictions these events have not happened in school but we are hopeful for 2022!

Above is some information used for P1 transition 2020/21 and 2021/22, there is also a link for a tour of the school.  Please be aware this information may not be up to date for current transition.  Please keep a look out for information regarding transition and enrolment  to P1 from Mrs Pollock (Senior ELC) and on the Clackmannanshire Council website.  Mrs Thomas will also post any updates on Class Dojo regarding transition.

For enrolment to Tillicoultry ELC please check with the Clackmannanshire Council website.

The P1 classrooms are set up similarly to the environment the children are familiar with in the nursery.   It is an environment which caters for all of the learners’ needs and learning.  At Tillicoultry Primary School we are continuing to develop our play pedagogy in early years.  The staff in early years in ELC and school work well together to ensure there is a coherent and smooth transition between environments for children to thrive and learn.

Below are some photographs of our lovely rich learning environments in our ELC and P1 classooms for you to have a sneak peak.
