Cells

1D3 and 1G3 are now experts in using the microscope, preparing materials to look at under the microscope and drawing what they see accurately. We have made a fantastic scientific discovery – living things are made up of much smaller units called cells. These cells all have similarities in their structure, but may be different in shape, size, form and arrangement depending on what they do.

The next part of the topic is to look at cells – what makes cells different in animals and plants? What are the parts of the cell and what do they do? What makes different cells suited to the jobs they do?

Test warnings

1D3 and 1G3 have now completed the Chemical Reactions topic by completing their small scale distillation experiments. We are waiting for MM to post the photos.

1D3 are sitting the test next Tuesday and 1G3 next Wednesday. Both classes have been issued with revision sheets for the topic. The homework, for the day of the test, is to provide evidence on the sheets that they have been doing active revision – highlighting, underlining or key words, making up vocabulary lists, making extra notes on the sheets or changing the format of the information (e.g. text to mind map). The sheets – including this evidence – will be taken in on the day of the test as a homework exercise.

Revision sheets are included below –
