School to Club Pathways / Links

At Coalsnaughton Primary we try to signpost our pupils to local community sports clubs and groups.  However in order to ensure that the clubs are fit for purpose and have relevant policies and procedures, qualified coaches and appropriate training in place we link with our Active Schools Team and their Active Clubs Agreement.

Over the last 18 months we have created a variety of links with local clubs that include:

• Taster sessions during Health week
• Coaches taking after school clubs
• Visits to local clubs for come & try or weekly sessions

During May/June 2017 we introduced our Sporting Explorers club which took 8 pupils each week after school to local sports clubs to try out various activities.

Judo Club Esprit

For the past two years we have offered after school judo sessions to all pupils every Wednesday with coaches Lee & Cailin from Judo Club Esprit.  The pupils totally love the sessions and the coaches are amazing!  We love the sport so much that we have invested in our own judo mats that stay in the school.

Tillicoultry Bowling Club

This year we have had two blocks of coaching where children attended our new lawn bowls coaching sessions led by the wonderful coaches at Tillicoultry Bowling Club.  We shared the sessions with pupils from Tillicoultry Primary and the coaches Alex & Anne and a few others.
