P4/5 with Miss McGill

Welcome to P4/5 with Miss McGill and Mrs Ferguson

Since returning to school in August 2020 P4/5 have been busy little bees! We have been getting to know each other again after a long time apart, and we have been beginning to learn some new things! Here are some of the activities we have been doing in class and outdoors.

Here is our Class Newsletter for Term 1 2020

Term 1 – 2020/2021

We have been practicing our spelling sounds using lots of different activities! We have practiced rhyming and making up nonsense words using rhyme. This has helped us in our story writing.

Our class novel during Term 1 was Fing by David Walliams, we loved it! We made the characters into puppets then filmed our favourite scenes.

We also made our own litte Fing’s out of pompoms and went outside to make Fing traps, just like in the book! This activity showed that we could comprehend what we had listened to.

In Numeracy we have been learning how to use different manipulatives to support our counting and addition skills. We are adding strategies into our ‘Numeracy toolkit’ so that we have a range of strategies to go to when faced with a calculation. This has been lots of fun!

In November 2020, we celebrated Bonfire Night and Remembrance Day. We made posters to help people remember the fireworks code, and we drew wonderful poppy pictures to display on our class windows to show our support to all the war heroes around the world.
