CLPL

Training & Development for Staff and Club Deliverers

At Coalsnaughton Primary we encourage all our staff to continuously develop themselves through an annual programme of CLPL courses.  This is the same for staff within the school and our wider community where we encourage them to develop their skills across PE, Physical Activity and School Sport.

Over the past two years our teachers and support staff have attended courses to support the delivery of both Physical Education and School Sport in a variety of activities including orienteering, badminton and archery.

All our staff attended the Soft Archery Leaders course during the February 2018 in-service day.

In January 2017 our Headteacher Mrs Clark-Burns attended the first ever Soft Archery Leaders course.  She enjoyed it very much and now archery is a club that is run in the school every term.

Our PE teacher Miss Nicolson attending the Athletics Official course at Lornshill Academy in February 2018.

Our previous PE teacher Mr Ward and our PEPASS Officer Vicky attended the new Netball Leaders course in August. We have used Netball in our PE curriculum and as part of our Commonwealth Games after school club.

All of the coaches and leaders who deliver clubs as part of our lunchtime and after school have the following qualifications:

  • PVG
  • Safeguarding & Protecting Children Certificate
  • Emergency First Aid Qualification
  • Relevant National Governing Body Awards / Qualifications
  • Attended CPD sessions

In addition all our deliverers have attended an annual Coaches Evening run by the Sports Development Team where they gain additional qualifications, health & safety updates and in-service sessions.
