For the next 2 weeks we are looking at the long vowel sound ‘a’. We have looked at 5 ways to make this phoneme: ‘a-e’ as in cake, ‘ay’ as in day, ‘ai’ as in rain, ‘ey’ as in they and ‘ea’ as in great.

Lots of information came home today so look out for it in school bags!
The newsletter gives information on what’s happening this term, for example our water topic and reading the BFG. It also lets you know that we have PE on Tuesdays and Thursday so please remember a kit. The Curriculum Overview goes into a bit more detail about the learning we will be covering.
Everyone also got a homework grid away with them. This includes tasks linked to various parts of our learning in school including water, energy sources and the BFG. Between now and Monday 5th December there is free choice of which activities to complete. Each activity has a point’s value, and there must be a total of 16 points completed. I will email a copy of the homework grid in case any go missing.

The structure of our spelling programme has changed slightly. There will now be a phoneme or spelling rule to focus on each fortnight as well as 4 common or tricky words to revise.
