Silent letters

Over the next 2 weeks will be look at how to spell words with silent letters.

We had some excellent discussion about what words have a silent letter and we were thinking hard about when a letter is silent or when it is part of a phoneme. For example, the ‘b’ in ‘climb’ is silent but the ‘h’ in ‘phone’ is with the ‘p’ to make the ‘f’ sound.

Here is a video with some more silent letter words.

Can you find other silent letter words? Can you think of a way to help you spell them?
