Road Safety Magic Show!

Today, Primary One, Two and Three classes had a visit from The Road Safety Magic Show. We learned how to cross the road safely. We know that we need to STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK!

We really enjoyed learning how to keep ourselves safe when we are out and about!

Team work inside and out for P4/5

P4/5 and P4 developed their travelling skills in gymnastics. They used small and large parts of their body to travel and balance, mirroring each other using the floor and the equipment.  P4/5 took their learning outside, making their own cave drawings, planting bulbs, ostrich egg mazes, Neolithic dens and film sets for Neolithic animals.

P3F Outdoor Learning Creating Skeletons

Our context for learning this term is Bodies and Bones. We have been learning the names of some of the bones in our skeleton.  By creating skeletons we produced transient art from natural materials we found in the playground. By transferring our  knowledge we were able to name and label our skeletons.

P7 Become Apprentices

P7 were very excited to begin their Business Apprentice topic today. Through this topic they will:

  • develop their creative thinking skills and enterprise skills
  • make decisions and choices about products and advertising
  • learn to work effectively as part of a team and manage a team
  • use persuasive techniques to sell effectively
  • Research aspects of a task which may help them to perform better
  • develop confidence and techniques when talking to an audience
  • Invent a totally new product.

Today they created their group names, which were outstanding. Capital, Apex, Spirit, Range, Straight forward to name a few.

They then had fun participating in a team building activity in which they had to build the highest possible tower in 15 minutes using only newspaper (no sellotape, blu tac, scissors.) Congratulations to the winning team, Capital.

Halloween Fun in Nursery

Halloween arrived in Nursery today but we have had a busy time getting ready this week. The children dressed up in their favourite costumes and shared why they had chosen their costume.

The dooking for apples was good fun with mixed results!!!

We worked very hard to carve our pumpkins, the children coming up with the designs and discussing the shapes we could use.

We also decorated buckets with lots of Halloween/Autumn designs and are very grateful to Tesco for their leftover stock kindly donated to us last year.

We used our finger grips to pick up small Halloween items using fangs!!

Happy Halloween everybody!

P2L Judo Lesson

In the last week of term we had a class Judo lesson. It was very exciting. First we had to learn how to fall safely. Then our instructor and two helpers showed us different types of flip. We had great fun learning and trying out these new sporting skills.

P2L Term 1 Learning

As part of our topic, ‘Neighbourhood Watch,’  pupils learned about many different types of home. We did a walk of our local area to try to identify them. We visited Oaklands building site to learn about how houses are made. We used these visits as inspiration to design our own dream houses and create them using junk modelling materials

Within our Maths work last term we learned about symmetry and looked for it in our local environment. We used objects from nature and from our classroom to create our own outdoor symmetry.

At the end of the term we began learning about 2D shapes and did a shape hunt throughout the school and playground. We worked in teams to look for circles, squares, rectangles, triangles, pentagons and hexagons.
