STEM Family Home Learning Project

STEM home learning family projects in the past have often been resource heavy and have involved sending a bag of resources home so that the activity can be carried out and then the resources must be replenished before they can be sent home with someone else. Mindful of the time involved and the cost  this project was created where that isn’t necessary.

The project is based around four story books, and it could potentially be delivered entirely digitally as  included is a link to an online version of the book in each pack.

For each of the books, there is a resource. On page one of the resource is a digital link to the book and a few questions to encourage discussion about the book. The second page explains what STEM is and why it is important. The following couple of pages have suggested STEM activities that all use recycled materials that such as cardboard boxes, yogurt pots etc or that can be done by drawing. Then there is a feedback sheet – either a paper copy or one that can be completed online via a QR code (which is anonymous and comes to the PSDO  but happy for it to be changed, so the feedback  goes to the teacher)  and finally there is a page of links to the curriculum.

This project is for First Level Learners

The four books are:

A Most Magnificent Thing

The Extraordinary Gardener

The Suitcase

Whatever Next!
