General Knowledge Quiz.

Four pupils from Gordon Primary took part in a very exciting quiz last week.

Angus and Aiden  (P7), and Lucy and Magnus(P6) competed in the final of a VERY close competition.  The scores were neck and neck and the Gordon Primary team were just beaten by the tie breaker.

The tie breaker question was “How high is Ben Nevis?”

Do you know the answer?

School Bank

Hi just a reminder about the school bank. This year p7s are running it. The school bank is a good place for saving up for special occasions or when you are older. The school bank runs every Wednesday.

Huntly Castle Junior Tour Guides

A gallery of photos from the launch of Huntly Castle Junior Tour Guides, June 2010

A group of primary 6 pupils are currently training very hard to become junior tour guides at Huntly Castle.

They will show pupils from other schools around the castle, and help them imagine life in the castle in the past by guiding them around the different rooms and helping them to imagine how they would have been used 800 years ago.

Each tour guide will be dressed in a beautiful costume, replicas of those worn in the time of Mary Queen of Scots.

The new tour guides have taken this important job over from the original tour guides, who are now in P7. The original guides delivered many tours in the first year of the HC Junior Tour Guides, including tours to some classes from Gordon Primary.

Primary 1 Nativity

Primary 1 classes put on an excellent nativity performance for pupils and parents. Their show included many lovely songs and retold the story of the First Christmas.

Some classes in 4,5,6 and 7 have been taking part in a finger knitting competition. They have been measuring the results by laying out the knitted lengths in the large hall. Some of them might be able to go up and down the hall twice and maybe even more. Some of them might be up to 12 metres long  and that’s a record  for the school. In fact we think we are half way towards the world record!

Mina in 5a is one of the pupils who has made an impressive start . Well done everyone who has been finger knitting.

P4B Recyled Badges

As a project P4B have been studying the Environment and they found out that crisp packets can’t get recycled so they made badges out of them. They collected crisp packets and baked them.

They then sold them to raise money for charity. They sold all of the badges and raised £43!  Next term they will debate which charity to donate the money to. They will choose between Arthritis UK and Steps Charity

To make  the badges follow these steps.

Step1 ;Get a crisp packet and wash it.

Step2; Put it in the oven for 10-15 minutes  then take it out. (Ask an adult first)

Step3; Leave it to cool

Step4 ;Put a pin in the back

Step5; Wear it with pride for helping the world

Fat Cones

The P1s are making  and selling fat cones.Pupils and staff can buy them to hang  in their  garden to feed the birds over winter. It would be great if you got one too, so they wouldn’t have to go hungry in the snow. It is made from porridge oats ,lard bird and seed . They are using the money to pay for a bus for a trip to Aberdeen in March.

P1 and P2 Nativity Play

All the children from primary one and two have been working very hard practising for their nativity play. The children will be performing for the whole school on Tuesday the 20th December and will perform again for parents on Wednesday 21st December.
The Nativity tells the story of what happened on the first Christmas when Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. The children are all very excited about dressing up and performing for you all. I’m sure it’s going to be a great show!
