Broad General Education S1- S3

Most pupils in S1-S3 will be working at Level 3 or Level 4

Teachers will keep pupils right on what level they are working at and what this means for them. Pupils will be made aware of where they are with their learning and what their targets are to keep doing well.

The Level number represents the first number in a pupil’s BGE Achieving box on tracking reports, before the decimal point.

The number after the decimal point refers to how the pupil is doing within that level

  • 2.5, 3.5, 4.5 – Working beyond current level
  • 2.4, 3.4, 4.4 – Achieving at current level
  • 2.3, 3.3, 4.3 – Will achieve that level with support by the end of that year.

For Example:

English            BGE Achieving            3.4      (This pupil is achieving at Level 3 in English)

Each pupil will receive a level for each subject they have.

Progression into the Senior Phase

4.5 or 3.5 and 4.4 and 3.4 pupils in S3 will likely progress onto National 5/Level 5 courses

4.3 or 3.3 pupils in S3 will likely progress onto National 4/Level 4 courses
