S3 Life Science

Course Overview

S3 Life Science is a new course on offer from the Science Faculty.  It is an integrated Science course covering the three main sciences; Biology, Chemistry and Physics.   Learners will continue to develop their science skills through practical activities and learning within a context relevant to real life such as health, technology and the environment.  

This is a practical and experiential course, developing scientific awareness and issues relating to Science.

The aims of the course are to

-develop and apply knowledge of Science

-develop an understanding of science’s role in scientific issues and relevant applications of science in society and the environment 

-develop scientific inquiry and investigative skills 

-develop scientific analytical thinking skills in a science context 

-develop the use of technology, equipment and materials safely in practical scientific activities 

-develop problem solving skills in a science context 

-use and understand scientific literacy in everyday contexts to communicate ideas and issues 

-develop the knowledge and skills for more advanced learning in sciences 

Progression Pathway

Learners who pick S3 Life Science can progress to National 4 Biology, Chemistry and Physics and also Level 5 Health Sector in S4.
