S3 Health and Food Technology

Pupils will be expected to have shown a keen interest in Health and Food Technology in S1 and S2. Where they have developed an understanding of the following areas of Health and Food: Scottish Dietary advice, Nutrition, Contemporary Food issues and Product development. 

 

Course content: 

Through written and Practical cookery activities pupils will develop a deeper understanding of the importance of a balanced diet and health and the nutritional properties of food as well as developing safe, hygienic and informed practices when preparing food. They will also widen their knowledge of the different factors that can influence food choice from personal choice to environmental factors. They will learn more about the product development process in the food industry and will have several opportunities to put this into practice.
