S3 Music Technology

Course Content:

The aims of the course are to enable learners to:

• Develop basic skills in the use of music technology hardware and software to capture and manipulate audio.
• Use music technology creatively for sound production in straightforward contexts.
• Develop an understanding of a range of 20th and 21st century musical styles and genres.
• Reflect on their own work and that of others.

Assessment:

• The practical element of this course will be assessed by completing a number of short recording projects which aim to develop skills in recording and manipulating audio.
• Pupils will also show their understanding of 20th and 21st century styles and genres and the technological developments associated with these. This will be assessed through listening assessments throughout the year.
