The Scottish Teenage Book Prize

Time is almost up for participation in The Scottish Teenage Book Prize 2017.

S6 pupil, Chris G., read all three books and sees Silver Skin by Joan Lennselkie_1on as the clear winner. Do you agree? Here are some short reviews by Chris:

The Last Soldier – A very unique story that grips the reader in its gnarled hand; easy to read and get into!

Black Cairn Point – An interesting story with good characters. Personally, I found it a bit boring to read especially with how the narrative kept jumping about from the past to the present; so much so that I ended up skipping chapters just to stay focused on the story…

Silver Skin – An amazing story with memorable characters as well as a new take on the standard ‘time travel’ trope. Strictly speaking this is sci-fi but the author cleverly adds elements such as historical myths about selkies and an exploration of what some prehistoric peoples believed happened to us when we die, really make tselkiehis a ‘stand out’ read.
