Continuing with the theme of involving parents in their offsprings’ reading journeys (See my last post! 😀 ), this month’s Long Read is a 2016 article from, The Independent: Does spending too much time on Smartphones and tablets damage kids’ development?
There are widespread fears that children’s educational and emotional development is being damaged by digital culture. But, says Olivia Solon , there’s as much evidence to the contrary – if we factor in some parental involvement…..Some parents feel the pressure to be constantly interacting with their children. However, find the right balance and tablet technology can actually be beneficial for both parents and their offspring. Just don’t expect the kids to always learn something.
No easy answers but certainly food for though.
