Contemporary young adult novels are my favourite books to read, as well as my favourite books to write. Contemporary YA doesn’t shy away from tricky subjects like sexuality, eating disorders and even child murder. Despite some of the heavy issues covered, these books are never preachy, are often funny and always full of heart.
