Food Waste Transition Project comes up top in Ecocity Awards

Northfield Academy’s Food Waste Transition Project comes up top in Ecocity Awards
The transition project came runner up in The Eco Learning Award, this award celebrates projects that have a significant impact on the environment and learning.

The transition project enables primary pupils to become more familiar with the academy. This project was designed to introduce the pupils to the concept of waste food, environmental problems and raise awareness of food waste and campaign to reduce the amount of waste.

Launch of this year’s Clean Up Aberdeen Campaign

Eco groups from Northfield Academy, Muirfield Primary and volunteers from Cummings Park Community Flat all came together on Friday 27th of April to launch Aberdeen City Council’s Clean up Aberdeen 2015 litter awareness campaign. Clean Up Aberdeen is part of Keep Scotland Beautiful’s national mass-engagement campaign Clean Up Scotland.

Northfield Academy’s Eco Group aims to encourage all local primary schools and clubs to participate in a week long litter awareness week starting on Monday 27th April to Friday 1st May.

Once you have set the date for your Clean Up and know roughly how many volunteers you are expecting, please contact your local authority using the contact details below to inform them of your event and to take advantage of any additional support on offer. This could include the disposal of waste collected, the loan of litter‐picking equipment (such as litter pickers, gloves and black bags), staff support and help publicising your Clean Up.
