Senior Management Team to tackle Kilt Walk

kiltwalk

On Sunday 5th June, our intrepid Senior Management Team will take on their toughest challenge yet – 8 miles of gruelling, agonising walking all while sporting kilts.

To raise money for the school’s supported charity – the STV Appeal – Mr Hendry, Mr Will, Dr Campbell and Mr Dow will don traditional Scottish garb and take on the Aberdeen Kilt Walk, along with many others. To support the team, you can donate at their JustGiving page – and come along on the day to cheer them on!

Go4SET Success

Go4SET 029

For the second year running Northfield Academy has won a trophy in the Go4SET competition.

The Go4SET competition is for a team of S2 pupils. In November the team, Kacey Bruce, Kirsty Leslie, Hannah Milne, Lucia McDonald and Joshua Currie, attended a launch event where they participated in some team building activities and selected the challenge they would tackle. From November until February the team worked with Balfour Beatty to research the building materials, heating and energy supply for an eco classroom that they would like to see built at Northfield Academy. They also designed the classroom, built a model to represent their ideas, created posters to tell their story and wrote a report of their findings.

As part of the challenge each pupil completed enough research to achieve a Silver CREST award which is a nationally recognised award.

During the final on the 18th February the team presented to two judges as well as discussing their classroom with other pupils, teachers and visitors. The judging was very close this year but Northfield Academy were awarded the Teamwork Award as they had demonstrated an excellent team spirit.

Shoe Box Appeal – Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree……..

shoe box

It was lovely to receive two shoe boxes from former pupil Fraser Gow’s mum and grandma – more importantly, this is the first two points for Stewart house.

REMEMBER LAST DAY FOR DONATIONS IS MONDAY 16TH NOVEMBER

Special thanks to all who have donated, there will be more baubles on our giving Christmas tree tomorrow.

Please see the Packing Instructions for more detail about what should go into your shoe box

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Tree

Take a look in the dining hall ………….

The shoe box appeal is well on its way this year towards making a difference to some of the children around the world who won’t be opening any presents this year.

Each shoe box gifted will gain a house point – come on Macbeth, Wallace and Stewart 😉

All you need to do is work with your tutor teacher to fill a shoebox with gifts – how simple!

Huge thank you to Mr. Watt for his design and artistic awesomeness.

School football trials

football team

After the success of both the S1 and S3 football teams last year, we look forward this year to another exciting season of school football.  This year we will be running four teams at S1, S2, S3 and S4 level. Every team is open to new players and players will be selected based on their performance at trials.

The first of the trials will be Wednesday 19th August after school for the S1 football team. This will run till around 4:30 and will be on the grass pitches so boots and shin guards should be worn. Please see Mr McKenzie if you have any more questions about this, or if you are interested in playing for the team but can not make the trial.

The second trial will be on Monday 24th August after school with the same format, for the S3 football team.  Please see Mr Halcrow or Mr McKenzie if you have any queries about this or can not make the trial.

Please pay attention for information regarding the S2 and S4 trials, of which the dates are yet to be confirmed but will be at some point next week.
