Girlguiding

1st Anderson Rainbows in Northfield are looking for volunteers!

Rainbows is the youngest section of the Girlguiding organisation, and we need volunteers to help out at our weekly meetings. It’s a great experience, especially for those who wish to enter primary teaching at university, other childcare qualifications, or for those taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh award for their volunteering section.

If you are a girl aged 14 or over, then this is an extremely worthwhile way to spend your time. Also, girls between 16 to 18 can start a Young Leadership Qualification. We meet weekly in the Northfield area between 5:30 and 6:30 on Wednesdays.

For more information about what we do please visit http://www.girlguiding.org.uk/get_involved/volunteer/faqs.aspx, where you can also sign up.

Christmas Crackers Needed

christmas_crackers2

Can you help Northfield Academy and its associate primary schools to achieve something very special this Christmas?

On the afternoon of Tuesday 15 December 2015, we are attempting to beat the world record for the longest Christmas cracker chain pull. We have been given permission by Guinness World Records to attempt to set a new world record and we plan to have 1000 pupils and staff involved.

Northfield Academy is working with STV to raise funds for the STV appeal and every person who takes part in the attempt to be a record breaker will be asked to give a donation.

How can you help? We need crackers. Whether you can donate 20 or 200, your support will be hugely appreciated.

Shoe Box Appeal – Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree……..

shoe box

It was lovely to receive two shoe boxes from former pupil Fraser Gow’s mum and grandma – more importantly, this is the first two points for Stewart house.

REMEMBER LAST DAY FOR DONATIONS IS MONDAY 16TH NOVEMBER

Special thanks to all who have donated, there will be more baubles on our giving Christmas tree tomorrow.

Please see the Packing Instructions for more detail about what should go into your shoe box

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Tree

Take a look in the dining hall ………….

The shoe box appeal is well on its way this year towards making a difference to some of the children around the world who won’t be opening any presents this year.

Each shoe box gifted will gain a house point – come on Macbeth, Wallace and Stewart 😉

All you need to do is work with your tutor teacher to fill a shoebox with gifts – how simple!

Huge thank you to Mr. Watt for his design and artistic awesomeness.
