This term, we are learning about Japan in the Primary 6 class.
Today, we learned about one of Japan’s national holidays celebrated annually – Children’s Day.
The 5th of May is Children’s Day in Japan and it is a day when families celebrate the healthy growth and happiness of children.
Did you know that the koi is a fish that swims upstream, and can even leap out of the water over small obstacles? The koi fish is used as an icon for Children’s Day in Japan as it signifies parent’s hopes for their children to be determined and strong, trying with all the vigour of the swimming carp – isn’t that fascinating?
With this in mind, Primary 6 used different oil pastels and water colours to create our own colourful koi fish pictures – they looked great!
