Hazlehead Park

Primary 6 have been working hard this term to make good choices in and around the school.  The class decided that the reward for filling the Good Choice Jar would be a ‘Picnic and Play’ at Hazlehead Park.  A good time was had by all!

P6 Scottish Parliament Glow Meet

At Fernielea, we were delighted to hear that all P6 pupils had been chosen to have a live Glow Meet question and answer session from Scottish Parliament with Ms Shirley-Anne Somerville, Minister for Further Education, Higher Education and Science.

We learned so much interesting information, such as what we can do if we would like to be involved with Politics in the future and also how helping to improve our community is important for this.

Thank you so much for meeting with us!

P6 Science!

In Science this term, we have been learning about the body.  This week, we were focusing on the lungs and how they work.  After learning lots about the lungs, we then got the chance to make our own model ones!

Energy Talk!

Today we had a visit from Shirley, an Energy Technician from Aberdeen Council.  She came to talk to the children about the council’s Energy Saving Campaign.  She talked about renewable energy and climate change.  She explained that by making small changes in our homes and schools by switching off our electrical appliances and chargers, etc. when not in use we could be saving energy and money!  Later in the year the council will be running a competition in schools to design stickers, posters and idea boards around water and energy saving.  Watch out for more information!

P6 Google Classroom Parent Session

This term, the Primary 6 class have been helping lots of classes to learn how to use Google Classroom.  This week, we hosted a special Google Classroom parent session to show some parents how it works and all the exciting things we can do with Google Classroom in school and at home too.

Thank you for all the parents who joined us, we hoped you have learned something new!

P6 Transition Event!

Last week, all the Primary 6’s from all the Hazlehead ASG primaries, met at Hazlehead Academy for a special transition sports event.  We got split into groups and mixed with lots of pupils from other schools.  This meant that we got to make some new friends with others that will be going to the academy at the same time as us!  We had brilliant fun completing all the activities!  Take a look at all the pictures!

P6 Police Visit!

Primary 6 had a visit today from our Police Scotland School Liaison Officer – Seb Cook.

He came to give us all a better understanding of what alcohol is and the influence it can have on people.  We were also reminded of what to do in an emergency situation involving alcohol or otherwise.
