Reduce Reuse Recycle

Letters of the week: y and z

We have been learning how to say different colours in French. We played games with the bean bags to help us remember.

We made tens frames to help us with our number recognition.

This week we have been learning all about the 3 R’s: reduce, reuse and recycle. We designed posters to tell everyone about the importance of recycling waste. We also created pieces of art using a selection of different paints and recyclable materials.

Welcome back!

We have had a great first week back after the holidays.

We took a trip to the library to choose a new book to read in class.

In PE we had to work as a team and use our bodies to create different shapes. We had lots of fun trying to make a rocket.

In ICT we were developing our mouse and keyboard skills by trying to log on to Education City independently. We were able to play lots of fun games once we were logged on.

We also started our mini topic about recycling this week. We now know what the recycling sign looks like and were able to spot it on Chloe’s water bottle.

Christmas Crafts

We have been busy little elves this week making lovely Christmas crafts.

We had fun finger painting Christmas lights.

Primary 3 visited the class to show us their fantastic toys that they made.

Primary 1 showed off their super dance moves at the Christmas party. We hope you all had fun!

I hope you all have an amazing Christmas room 7 and that Santa brings you some lovely gifts. You have all worked incredibly hard this term, well done!

Elfy comes to visit!

This morning Elfy arrived in room 7 by spaceship!!!

Matthew noticed that Elfy had joined our number line as number 21. We made sure not to touch him so he wouldn’t lose his magic.

When we returned to the classroom after break Elfy had left a little message for Sienna and Emily.

Elfy was very mischievous and left a list for us on the board. Elfy had written all the boys and girls from room 7 on the nice list and poor Mrs Webster and Mrs Stratton were on the naughty list.

Elfy had been racing some of the other toys at lunchtime.

Elfy really enjoyed his day with room 7!

Ferryhill Library Trip

Letters of the week: b and u.

Numbers of the week: 0-10

We have been learning our days of the week.

Mr Cowie also came to visit to teach us the story of Zacchaeus. We talked about kindness and being a good person.

On Tuesday we walked to Ferryhill Library to vote for our favourite Bookbug book.

We were very impressed by the voting box that the Library had made.

We read ‘Shark in the Park on a Windy Day’ and ‘There’s a Bear on my Chair.’

We had fun posting our voting cards.

We enjoyed reading some of the children’s books too.

Exploring Shape

Letters of the week: g and l

Numbers of the week: revision of 7 and 8

This week we continued to explore 2D shape. We loved using the touch and feel boxes to guess the shape and describe it’s properties.

We also had to complete a shape sorting challenge.

We played shape bingo and used some 3D shapes to make pictures.

We enjoyed completing our ‘All About Me’ booklets to help Miss Mennie get to know us a little bit better. Miss Mennie will return to help out in our classroom in February. We can’t wait!
