Letter Disco

Explore Learning came back to visit our class to run a literacy workshop. We were learning about words that rhyme.

A special parcel was delivered to room 7 on Thursday. Inside the parcel was an ammonite fossil. It was really heavy!

We have been learning how to form our capital letters correctly. We decided to use finger lasers to write the letters in the air. We had lots of fun!

Dinosaur Adventure

Sound of the week: ee

We have been using non fiction books to research interesting facts about dinosaurs. We sorted our dinosaur cards into two different groups: herbivores and carnivores.

We made dinosaur models out of different materials. We then used our models to create a dinosaur adventure story. We tried to include adjectives to make our story really interesting.

This week we went on a very special adventure. We went to the Woodies to find some dinosaurs and dinosaur eggs. We had lots of fun!

Music: This week we have been learning to create and play a tune on a glockenspiel.

ICT: On Wednesday we used our mouse skills to create a dinosaur scene from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous time periods.

Google Expeditions

Sound of the week: sh.

Last Friday we were lucky enough to receive a visit from Google. We were able to see places such as the Taj Mahal, the Great Barrier Reef, space and London. The mobile phones they gave us to use were really cool. Our favourite part was spotting all the dinosaurs when we went back in time.

Some of the primary 7’s came to help us make dinosaur fossils. It was very messy but lots of fun.

Thinking Day: our Rainbows did a super job at telling us all about Rainbows and the Rainbow promise.

Investigating 3D shapes

Phonics: this week we have been consolidating some of the sounds we already know.

Our visit to the library:

Writing: we have been learning how to write a set of instructions. This week our focus was recipes. We made chocolate crispies and then wrote a recipe outlining our method, ingredients and the equipment needed to make them. They were really tasty!

Maths: we have been learning how to identify and name a variety of 3D shapes. We had fun investigating which 3D shapes could roll down the ramp.

Homework for Monday 13th February

We will soon be doing some work related to World Book Day. In preparation for this could you please ask your child: what their favourite book is and why. We will be doing a piece of work related to this in class and so it would be very handy if your child has already given this some thought. Thank you for your support.

Scots Poems

Well done to everyone that took part in our Scots poetry competition. You were all fantastic at reciting your Scots poems.
