Shaduf Models

The pupils of Primary 3/4 were busy building models on Tuesday afternoon. We spent time looking at the different parts of a shaduf and created detailed plans of how we would build our own models. The class did a super job of using a variety of new and recycled materials to create their models of these incredible inventions that were used to irrigate crops in ancient Egypt. Shadufs are still used in some places to this day!

Star of the Week

Our congratulations go to Leo who was chosen as Pupil of the Week on Friday! Leo wrote an excellent descriptive piece all about seeing the Queen at Sue Ryder. He worked hard and challenged himself to use some very interesting words and phrases. Way to go, Leo! We are very proud of you!

Her Majesty Comes to Kincorth!

Wow…what an exciting day we had on Friday! We walked along to try and catch a glimpse of the Queen as she arrived at the Sue Ryder Centre and ended up in a prime position with an excellent view!! The children were extremely excited!! We were also incredibly proud of Freya, Saffron, Megan and Lou-Lou who were chosen to sing for the Queen inside the centre on Friday – they loved every minute of their starring role! Well done Girls!

Pupil of the Week

Congratulations to Lou-Lou on being awarded our Pupil of the Week! Lou-Lou has been working really well with her learning partner in class. She has shown a lot of patience and support when working on paired activities. Well done Lou-Lou – we are proud of you!

Sponsored Walk

All the boys and girls in P3/4 did a great job on their sponsored walk today! We encountered sunshine, showers, wind and a few muddy puddles but there was no stopping us! Karolis was in charge of our class pedometer and we clocked up an amazing 10,786 steps!! Well done everyone!

Pupil Council Elections

Huge congratulations to Abira on being elected as our Pupil Council Rep last week! Abira has only been with us a few weeks and the number of votes she received from her classmates shows how wonderfully she has settled into our class.

Abira was also awarded our Pupil of the Week certificate last week for the excellent speech she gave in the build up to our Pupil Council elections. What a great start to your P4 Year at Abbotswell Abira! Well done – we are so proud of you!

Congratulations also goes to Megan for being our runner up in the Pupil Council elections. We are sure Megan will be an excellent Deputy and a great support to Abira! Well done Megan!

Buddy Time!

P3/4 are so delighted to be paired up the with the Nursery this year for Buddy Time! Each Friday morning, we will be spending time with our Nursery friends and if our first visit last week was anything to go by, the children are going to take their role very seriously! It was lovely to see them engaging with their nursery buddies through play and listening to them talk to the children about colours, shapes, numbers etc. We were extremely proud of them!

Measuring

This week in Maths we have been having lots of fun developing our measuring skills. Today we ventured out into the playground to measure some larger objects in metres and centimetres. Our estimating skills are really improving!
