Argyll Collection Primary Writing Competition 2013

CAST is glad to announce the theme for this year’s Argyll Collection Primary Writing Competition. The competition is now in its third year and we are delighted to announce continued support from Scottish Book Trust.
2013 competition prizes:
1st prize: 5 books, 2nd prize: 3 books, 3rd prize: 3 books
£250 worth of books for the winning pupil’s primary school – a wide selection of picture books suitable for early and first level.

The competition is open to all primary schools wthin Argyll & Bute. Entries are invited from second level pupils.
Encourage your pupils to write a piece of imaginative prose (short story) inspired by one of the works in the collection and incorporating the following theme:
‘THE ARTIST’S STORY’ Either a story about an imaginary artist who may have made the chosen picture or a story about why the picture was made.

Let your pupils choose one image from a group of 6 pictures. They can be displayed on your whiteboards/screens. Each school can submit up to 3 pieces, to be decided in any way you chose – why not run a mini competition?

All entries must be submitted by 5pm Friday 4th October 2013

The results of the competition will be announced by Friday 1 November 2013.
