In chronological order, here are some food and health education opportunities.

1. Food Revolution Day. Friday 16th May. To mark the occasion, TES Connect is hosting a live cooking lesson run by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver.
We’re asking teachers from around the world to sign up their school or class HERE and take part in Jamie’s live TES Connect cooking lesson.By participating in this event, you and your class will be part of the world’s biggest ever cooking lesson.
What to expect from the day:

3. Cooking Bus CPD in Glasgow – free 3 hour CPD sessions available during 2nd June to 6th June – open to teachers and support staff – click HERE for more information and how to sign up for a workshop

4. RHET : All Creatures Great and Small – the practicalities and benefits of keeping animals on your project Saturday 7th June Joint event with Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, Royal Highland Educational Trust and Care Farming Scotland.

This event is for people who are interested in keeping animals within a community setting – be it within a school or a community garden project. It will involve a variety of workshops/case studies including how to link keeping animals with the Curriculum for Excellence, health and safety issues around working with animals, looking after bees and chickens, and how working with animals can benefit vulnerable people. There will be plenty of networking opportunities throughout the day, out of doors opportunities to learn more about a variety of animal habitats and a tour around Palacerigg Country Park to look at the Children’s Farm and rare breeds. To book a place and download a programme for the day, see link to info above. Cost: £20 (FCFFG members), £35 School staff/ teachers and community gardening groups and £60 other organisations. Lunch and refreshments will be provided!

5. The Great British Space Dinner – competition open to 7 – 14 year olds to design a meal fit for an astronaut. Entries by 30th June.

6. Education Scotland Grow, Cook, Eat event at Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh ‘Save the date’ Saturday 13th September 2014
In line with recent the recent ‘Better Eating, Better Learning’ published guidance, Education Scotland are hosting an event providing practical support and advice around the practicalities of risk assessment and hygiene considerations around growing food in school, cooking the food in school and eating the results. Further details to follow.
