Class Charters

Primary 1 – 3 class charter

The P1 – 3 children spent a lot of time thinking about the rights they had learned about and which ones they wanted to focus on to include in their class charter. The children worked together, having many discussions, to create their Class Charter. They also took the time to link the SHANARRI indicators to the articles.

Primary 4 – 7 class charter

This is our P4 – 7 class charter, which we have developed together as part of our RRS (Rights Respecting Schools) work.

We worked collaboratively to pick the Articles we felt were most important to us, our learning and our classroom. We discussed and agreed what the responsibilities of duty bearers in the school should be. These responsibilities enable us to access our right to be listened to, our right to be protected from harm, our right to an education and our right to quality health care and clean water and good food. We also agreed what we should do as rights holders in order to access these rights. We can link these rights to the SHANARRI Indicators we have learned about.

The signed handprints show our commitment to our charter, as duty bearers and rights holders. We use this language in school and in class to discuss our rights and the responsibilities of duty bearers. We would like our parents to be involved with the language we use around our rights and to understand how important they are to us.

Thanks, P4 – 7, Miss Leys and Mr Newton and Mrs Baker.
