The National 5 Music Course involves performing music, creating original music using compositional methods and music concepts, and developing knowledge and understanding of music and musical literacy. Ideally you are building on a successful completion of National 4, or in some cases BGE, Music before starting this course.
There are three areas of assessment at the end of the course:
Performance on two instruments
Composition
Understanding question paper
All skills and learning lead towards the Higher Music course.
Possible careers after studying music include:
- music therapist
- musician
- primary / secondary / private music (or instrumental) teacher
- arts administrator
- event manager
- radio producer
- artist agent
