FIFA World Cup 2026

This week we started working on our Football PBL for this term. We have all chosen teams we are interested in and we are working with a friend in class to research key information. Throughout the week we are working to earn extra points for our chosen country through following our school values and our school vision. Everyone is excited to work on our personal projects and of course to follow the football too.

National Galleries of Scotland Art Lesson

Today we participated in another live art lesson from fabulous experts Lorna and Liz. The focus was on artist Wendy McMurdo and exploring the theme of story and imaginary worlds. We studied photographs with missing pieces and had to guess what we thought was in the original photograph. Lots of super discussion and collaboration with our peers. In the end we created our own personal avatars and started to think about our imaginary worlds.

Curriculum cafe

Yesterday we held our final curriculum cafe of the term on the topic of differentiation. The children led this presentation and planned their own activities to share their learning with their grown ups. The children communicated clearly and worked together in small groups. It was fabulous to see lots of parents and family members attend this cafe and participate in all the tasks.

Golden Showcase

Last week we finally revealed our new school vision, to our parents and community at Woodmuir PS. All children had the opportunity to say a little piece about what our new school vision means to us and we celebrated the winning design. The children sang beautifully and the last song added a magical touch to the end of our assembly and really captured the sense of togetherness in our school community.

It was lovely to see proud smiles on the faces of all our parents as they watched the enthusiasm in all children as they sang and danced happily! It was a heartwarming afternoon and events like these create cherished memories for the children. A big thank you to all the parents who came along to this event and provided feedback on the children’s work in their Golden Vision Books. We look forward to more of these open events in the new year where we can showcase our learning and celebrate success.

Our Golden Profiles

After our assembly rehearsal this morning, we worked on our individual profiles ready for our showcase this afternoon. We are taking a great deal of care with these project books to get them ready for our grown ups and we are very excited to hear about the competition!

Designing our Christmas games

Today we started to design our Fayre game thinking about our theme, decorations, the title , goal, players, rules and materials we will need to collect. We also sketched our game and discussed prizes! Again lots of the Woodmuirps skills were visible today including communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking.

Project Based Learning

Today we started our new term 2 topic where pupils voted for a Christmas Enterprise theme. Lots of great discussion resulted in everyone choosing to create a game for our winter Fayre . Lots of skills were visible in our random groups such as integrating knowledge and skills to foster critical thinking, collaboration and communication. After looking at our key question, we had a busy brainstorm session focussing on our end product. Next we will move on to the process and how we will create our game using the materials we have in school. This is is super exciting and we can’t wait to showcase our games!
