Nativity practise

Today we had a great nativity rehearsal in class which was our first full run through with singing and dancing. The singing was superb and we had lovely, expression from all children. Our P7/6 children helped lead the practise supporting the younger children with their words.

World Children’s Day

Today we joined the National Assembly to celebrate World Children’s Day. This is an annual event to promote children’s rights and improve their welfare world wide. It commemorates the anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child.

We took part in body percussion as part of this assembly.

Library detectives

Today we were investigating our school library and finding books that made us laugh, creepy books, non fiction texts, shorter books and novels. We had a little competition as part of book week Scotland and had lots of fun.

Art Fridays

Theme: From teeny- tiny to towering

Focus artwork: Spider by Louise Bourgeois

Today we explored the work of Louise Bourgeois looking at scale, emotions and memories in art work. We had a go at creating sculptures using only newspapers to explore scale- tiny and huge. The children developed and communicated their ideas, demonstrated imagination and presented at least one possible solution to a design problem. Everyone responded to the work of Bourgeois by discussing their thoughts and feelings.

Designing our Christmas games

Today we started to design our Fayre game thinking about our theme, decorations, the title , goal, players, rules and materials we will need to collect. We also sketched our game and discussed prizes! Again lots of the Woodmuirps skills were visible today including communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking.
