On Tuesday we were lucky enough to visit a family run business to see first hand how they grow the potatoes and the process of harvesting and processing them in their factory, before being sold to customers. This was a trip we won by growing the most potatoes in the summer term and completing a fantastic potato display. James and Sonia were great tour guides and took us around all the sheds, the factory and lastly we got to visit the potato fields.
Back in school, we boiled the potatoes from James, had a little taster then took a few home to cook.

We are working in partnership with University of Glasgow to implement MathsBURST in our classroom. Today we were learning to define reflective symmetry, complete reflections of given 2D shapes and reflect 2D shapes over horizontal axes. We all enjoyed using the mirrors to visualise, predict and check. We are also going to use this strategy and apply it in our project based learning to draw famous landmarks found in our chosen country.

The next part of our PBL learning was to find out about the different climates in our chosen countries. P1 had a science workshop on the four seasons, p3/4 were learning about world climates and the Equator. Primary 5-7 were finding out about different climates around the world using I pads, and the vocabulary we use to describe these places. Lots of super science, literacy, I.C.T and Geography work across all stages.

Today we started off creating our Trusted adult display. Everyone participated in super discussion about who our trusted adults could be and why we need to have these responsible adults at home and in school.
In creativity hour today we had a really special visit from Jen at Voice Rocks. We played fun singing games to start off then we learned a new song to develop musical ear and general music skills. This was a fabulous music experience for everyone. Jen has music classes on a Saturday morning in Bathgate partnership centre. Information leaflets will go out soon with all of these details if any pupils are keen to join these music classes.

We had a very exciting visit today from West Lothian Bike Library. They help people get active and connected through cycling. We had booked in a cycle maintenance workshop as we have quite a few school bikes which are in need of repair.

In Regina’s Art club they visited Mexico and made art mirrors. These bright and colourful creations bring good luck to your house.
