P7P Learn it Log it Blog it

P7P have been exploring lots of different new strategies in their numeracy. We have been looking at fractions, decimals and percentages as well as prime numbers and factors of numbers to give us a better understanding of numeracy. We continue to be accessing our learning through ICT, textbooks as well as group games. These can be accessed and practiced at home too –

We are continuing to explore much more of the outdoors as part of fitness fortnight and our daily run a mile. The great sunshine recntly has allowed us to do this more and more. Additionally, we continue to be using our problem solving skills to complete many activities in and around the school. These will involve working together with our peers and demonstrating resilience. We hope as much as possible for this to resemble the camp experience that P7 learners normally have.

Please continue to send in any pictures by email to the school of P7P children over the years so we can use them for our Leavers Assembly! These will be shared within the Leavers Assembly only and will not be posted online.

Primary 7c Blog Friday the 28th of May

Primary 7c have been enjoying their last few weeks at Primary School!

In PE we have been having lots of fun during our last lessons in Tennis. We have been learning how to serve the ball, backhand and forehand techniques and we have played some mini-Tennis games. We have been keeping fit and active by taking part in regular outdoor activities including walking or running a mile most days and regularly walking to the local park.

In Numeracy we have been learning how fractions, decimals and percentages link with each other. The triangles have been finding percentages of amounts and the rectangles have been converting fractions and decimals to percentages. In Maths we have been working on area and perimeter. The rectangles have been learning how to calculate the area of a kite, rhombus and parallelogram. Triangles have been learning to find the area of right angled triangles and how this links to the area of a rectangle.

In French we have been completing our S1 Transition tasks. We have been revising how to describe a person, naming school equipment and naming colours and animals.

In writing we spent some time writing a very important letter to our future selves as we prepare to make the transition from Primary 7 to S1. In this we discussed our goals for the future and anything we would like to achieve in the future. We plan to open these in a few years time. We are now beginning to work on Procedural writing and will be writing instructions linked to our Outdoor learning experiences.

For S1 Transition activities we had lots of fun trying to make tall structures using only spaghetti and marshmallows. It was clear to see we have a lot of budding engineers in P7c and we managed to build some amazing structures!

We are designing and making our own chocolates and put them into wrappers that we have also designed and made. We are learning this as we are finding out all about Fairtrade because our topic is The Island and people grow cocoa beans on islands.

We have been writing narratives which is a fiction text. Our narratives have been about exploring an island.

In Numeracy and Maths, we have been learning about time. We have been reading clocks and working out durations of time.

In PE we have been playing rounders and learning how to play a team sport. We have been working on bat and ball skills, accuracy and pace and stamina.

We are very excited to make our own chocolates and wrappers.

We are also looking forward to Fitness Fortnight and Sports Day even though it might look a bit different this year.
