P7 Camp Blog Post Day 2

At Lendrick Muir we have had a really fun day today. For breakfast we had different types of cereal and toast. All groups started with different activities such as orienteering, Jacob’s ladder, mini survival, trail bikes and king swing. We had 4 activities until dinner split into our separate colour groups and done different activities up until lunch. In mini survival we were doing some building such as houses for wildlife and the camouflage game. We made houses out of moss to make it water resistant and we used rocks to make it windproof.

In another activity, some of us got harnessed in and were put in groups to climb Jacob’s ladder. Another group went on a Gorge walk and we saw waterfalls. At the end of the gorge walk if you had wellies on we got to on in at the shallow end. Some of the groups went trail biking and lots of us got really mucky. Another group went on the King Swing and got some butterflies in their tummy from going so high. The people not on the swing had to help pull them (which believe me was hard work). Other groups went orienteering. We worked on our map skills. During the activities we got a break and we sat down for some fruit and a drink. Nightline involved being blind folded and following a rope.

For lunch we had lentil soup and homemade pizza with salad. Lots of people loved it! For dinner we had an option of meatballs and pasta or chicken and bacon pasta. Best of all was the chocolate cake dessert! P.S We also had a slice of birthday cake for supper.

After dinner, we took part in a record breakers task with the intructors. We had to do different tasks which we were then trying to beat the world record holder. For one of the records we were aiming to beat 162 skips in 30 seconds. Miss Edwards timed and the highest record was Jamie in P7h, followed by Daryl in P7e. For free time we got to go to different activities such as football, games with Mr Kerr as he came to visit today and the adventure playground.  We are now going to watch our DVD for the night, the Incredibles 2.

We are looking forward to the king swing, Jacob’s ladder, archery and bowling at night tomorrow! It’s been a long but exciting day with lots of fun and tired children.

Lendrick Muir P7 Camp

P7: We arrived safely at Lendrick Muir today at 10:30AM. We were introduced to the staff and given a tour of the grounds. After we had a tour of the grounds, we came back into the hall and we found out our teams for our activities. For our first set of activities we had to work as a team. At the first activity it was a test for the team work and it gradually got better for each group as we worked through the tasks. At each activity you could earn a certain amount of tokens. We earned tokens for working as a team and for getting near to the end or finishing the activity. We enjoyed finding out our teams for the activities. However, we would have liked to have more time at each task. Some of the activities were the giant finger, spider’s web, the crane, stepping stones and isotope. We then had the count up all our tokens to see who the winning team was. The winning team got a head start in the rocket launch challenge. We then built our rockets and filled them with a certain amount of fuel (decided by the groups) and created a stand to launch it. We all went outside and launched the rockets. The orange team’s rocket went for miles!

After the rocket launch, we came back and finished setting up and trying to make our beds (some were successful). We then reflected on our task with the instructors.

For dinner we had either fish or chicken pie with wedges. We had one last activity with the instructors which was the inflatables. We had to make sure our arms and legs were covered. The obstacles on it were the budge cord which you had to run against and place a bean bag at the furthers point and a wrecking which we could knock other off with.

We have just had hot chocolate and shortbread for supper, yum! We then got our jammies on and we are now ready to watch our DVD.

We have been learning the ai sound this week during phonics lessons. Some children made little sail boats- which also ties in with our transport topic.  In our story writing we have been writing factual information and have written about hot air balloons and trains.

In numeracy we have been working hard to remember some doubles numbers facts to help give us another quick strategy in addition and subtraction problems.

We made some rockets and put them on the rocket launcher to test outside.

We all had fun when we went out with Sustrans on balance bikes. The teachers went out on scooters too.
