31.08.22 P7MO

In numeracy we have been doing multiplication and have focused on the column method and grid method. In maths, we have been focusing on data handling. We have been looking at and creating questionnaires.

Literacy we have been focusing on description and adjectives. We have also been looking at nouns.

Since we have come back we have had our leadership team elections. We made presentations about why we would be good for the roles we were applying for. We also wrote letters to Mrs Angus to let her know why we would be good at the roles as well. The whole of P7 then voted for our leadership team.

During PE we have been focusing on gymnastics. We have focused on jumps and leaps as well as different types of rolls.

Our topic this term is the Scottish Government. We have been making timelines of the history of the Scottish Parliament and we have planned lots of exciting ideas to learn more about this topic.

As a year group we have been part of drawing the Rogue Gallery of staff.  We started by drawing a nose, mouth and eyes then started working on the face structure. We were then given a member of staff to draw.

We have been working with our buddies every Thursday afternoon. We have been doing literacy tasks with them. We read them books and helped them to learn words beginning with a and s.

Yours sincerely,

P7MO 🙂

P5mw Learn it! Log it! Blog it!

Welcome back to our school blog!

P5mw have been learning about natural disasters. In particular, we have been looking at volcanoes and how they erupt as well as what the biggest eruption has ever been (Indonesia).  Also, we have been looking at how they start and how hot they are. We also looked at tectonic plates and how they fight against each other and this pressure causes earthquakes.

In brass, we have been learning how to blow up balloons to help us use instruments such as the trombone, French horn, clarinet and the trumpet.

In PE, we have been doing gymnastics and learning new stances such as back to back straddle as well as creating obstacle courses and playing games as part of a cool down.

In problem solving we have been using spaghetti and bread to create free-standing towers. We had to be careful and construct them with care and creativity. Our class winners were Iyla and Sophie who managed to reach 52cm!

In music, we have been learning about the Swedish band ABBA and in particular the song Mamma Mia. We even practised some sign language.

P6bc Tuesday 30th August

We have settled in well to P6 and are busy learning our routines for each day.

The children have been reading and writing about The Twits as a novel study.   Tommy says that  “they are old, smelly and funny”

Kaylee says ” they play pranks on each other”

The children have drawn their own pictures of Mr and Mrs Twit and we have a wonderful display in the classroom to reflect their learning.
