Windyknowe Primary School is proud to have a method of keeping in touch with the wider community using this blog, however with this comes an element of risk. We are keen for children and parents alike to respond to the things that are happening in our school but we do however advocate the safe use of the internet. Therefore, we must keep some safety rules in mind at all times:
- If leaving a comment on a class post NEVER give your full name. Either put your initials, or your first name only;
- NEVER leave any other personal details within a comment as comments can be seen by anyone who has access to the blog;
- Photos that are placed on this site will NEVER show a close up view of individual children and full names will NEVER be shown alongside a photo.
Our school blog can be accessed using a search engine like google. Comments will only be visible once they have been approved by the administrators of the site and any misuse of this comment function will result in the comment being removed.
At Windyknowe, safe use of the internet is very much part of our Health and Wellbeing curriculum. Below are some useful links that both parents and children can access at home to reinforce the importance of internet safety.
Our Facebook page has proved to be a popular method of communication with many of our parents. All information posted on Faceook is targeted at parents only and with this in mind, we have included the following PDF document which is a parental guide to Facebook. It give details of how to set profiles to the maximum security when a child is of age to have an account. It aslo give details as to why it is important that children under 13 do not lie about their age in order to obtain an account.
We hope you find this information useful and that our children continue to enjoy the benefits of electronic communication whilst following our safety guidance. As always, if you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
