Good afternoon everyone,

4M would like to share our learning with you.

Lucas would like to tell you about Diwali.  We were learning about Diwali because it’s part of our new topic.  We learned about Lakshmi, Rama and Sita. Lewis enjoyed learning about this story.  Lucy knows that Diwali is a festival celebrated in India and around the world and Maxim knows that it is a Hindu festival.  We looked at different Hindu traditions to celebrate Diwali and we designed our own Mehndi patterned hands.  Gracie enjoyed creating these patterns.  Carmen would like to tell you that the class voted and we named our topic, ‘Food and Fun’.

Eden would like to tell you about today’s Jigsaw lesson.  We were discussing how families are the same and how families can be different.

Aiden would like to talk about our spelling.  He has been learning to spell words correctly and he was learning the split i-e vowel diagraph.

Callum R has been learning about 5 minute time intervals in time and counting in 5’s helps you with this! Evan would like to tell you that we have been learning about AM times and PM times.

Ana would like to tell you about Problem Solving.  We have been breaking problems down to make them easier to solve.

Jake would like to tell you about PE with Mrs Howard.  Jake has been passing the ball within his team.  Baili was playing a game with a toy bowling pin where you had to spin it and then tag someone with a ball.

Jessica D would like to tell you about the Scottish Country Dancing.  We have been practising the Dashing White Sergeant and Gay Gordons.

Through our numeracy we have been learning about money.  Alana would like to share that we have been learning about counting coins. Erika had to choose a cupcake case and take some fake money and try to make the total that was written inside the case.

Thank you for reading,

Welcome back! We are all ready for a busy second term and lots of learning ahead. We have continued our class novel The Hunger Games and took part is some great drama taking on characteristics and feelings of the characters involved. We hope this will allow us to build more empathy with the characters as the story unfolds. We also looked at probability and used The Hunger Games “Reaping” to work out the chances of being chosen. This put probability into a context that made sense to us. We will now be looking at numeric ways of showing probability as fractions decimals and percentages. Money Month will be starting in November when we can learn about all things financial by maintaining and balancing our own “earnings”. This will give a great awareness of money, its value and the pitfalls and advantages of carefully managed credit.

Writing and creating our dystopian character was super fun because I thought that my character was really cool. This character is called a protagonist-Harrison.

We are learning about increasing our fitness and stamina and decision making in PE with Mrs Howard. –Leo

We enjoyed making Top Trumps cards for our districts in Hunger Games. We learned how to use search engines efficiently.-Archie.

We created fluid faces in Art for our Heartstone project to demonstrate equalities and how we should have tolerance for differences in people.-Ferida.

I enjoyed acting out the reaping scene in Hunger Games. I got to use my acting skills and it made me think what it would have been like to actually be involved in it.-Charlie.
