We enjoyed our Halloween themed activities last month in October for our party day!

We also want you to know…

We have been learning about money and using chimney sums to help us add and subtract – MK

We have liked learning about food chains – RM

There is always a producer that produces energy in food chains – LK

We have been talking about bullying and we are making sure we help people be more kind – CS

We are enjoying our class jobs and we get to work with other people in our class that we don’t sit beside – JD

I like our words of the week and try to use them inside the class and outside at break – AC

P5M Learn it! Log it! Blog it!

We have been learning about COP 26 and why it’s important – we have also been looking at global warming and we can confidently say what the greenhouse effect is. We will also be excited to learn about climate change in Australia and how the landscape and environment are changing. We have been really excited about completing experiments – we competed an experiment whereby we used baking soda, food colouring, a lamp to represent the sun as well as vingar to create a small amount of co2. We could see how global warming is created.

In maths we have been continuing to explore different ways of measuring – in particular we have been focussing on estimating lenghts and then taking their actual measurements and comparing the two. We have also been looking at mm, cm, meters and kilometers.

Primary 5MW November 10th

We have been working really hard in Primary 5mw to learn different strategies for mental calculations.

We took part in a live coding session with other schools all across Scotland. We used scratch to create games and moving animals. We really enjoyed it and some of us have been using it at home too.

Maiya has been really enjoying writing. We have been working hard to use more ambitious vocabulary in our writing.

Primary 5MW have been learning about living things and food chains as part of our Australia Topic. Thomas is keen to learn about Steve Irwin.

We planted daffodil and crocus bulbs as part of a national project. We need to check the rainfall and temperature everyday and record them in a national data base.

We’ve been keeping fit doing cross country running and are trying to improve our distances. Brooke has really enjoyed doing gymnastics – it has been a great start to our Thursday mornings!

We are looking forward to learning more about Australia and watching our bulbs grow!!
