Good afternoon everyone,

P3M wanted to give you a quick update about our learning over the past few weeks.

Jaksen was making friendship tokens through our health and wellbeing Jigsaw lessons.  We give them to people who might be lonely.

Maxim has enjoyed doing some reading comprehension based on a Christmas text.

Erika enjoyed making Christmas wrapping paper where we were using pattern and symmetry.

Jak has enjoyed making up his own snakes and ladder board game.

Jessica D had a fab time at the Christmas party yesterday and she enjoyed making some party place mats.

Lucy worked as part of a team to create a fact sheet about Scotland.  She learned some facts such as the largest city in Scotland is Glasgow.  Lauren enjoyed this too and her favourite fact was that Ben Nevis is the biggest mountain in Scotland.

Jake enjoyed making Grinch cards using oil pastels as part of our vertical learning day.  Evan enjoyed this too!

Sophie has been doing music with Mr Paul and has learned some Christmas music and Christmas songs.

This term, Gracie enjoyed all the learning that we did about bonfire night.  It seems so long ago now!

Today in writing, Allegra enjoyed creating a character study based around the characters from our class novel, the Christmasaurus.

Ruaridh has enjoyed reading the Christmasaurus.

Ana enjoyed being a miner when we experienced what it would be like working in a mine and she had to mine chocolate chips out of chocolate chip cookies.

Baili, in numeracy, has been learning to segment numbers into place value to help him with addition and subtraction mentally.

Jessica M enjoyed made some Christmas cards using French vocabulary.  Callum R enjoyed this too!

Carmen made some paper chains which had her spelling words and common words on them.  Oakley thought this was a fun way to work on his spelling words.  Cara thought it was nice and Christmassy.

Ethan has enjoyed number of the week and has lots of ways he can practise his numbers.

Lewis would like to tell you about our elf Holly who has joined out class.  She even turned up in a disco ball suit so she could come to our Christmas Party!

William had fun working with a partner on Christmas Numeracy and Maths puzzle.

Alana has enjoyed learning French with our specialist, Messieur Perrard.

Aiden likes playing loop cards to help him with his understanding of place value.

Eden has been enjoying her handwriting this term and enjoyed the fine motor skills practise the class did when writing, Away in a Manger.

Thank you for your continued support.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes.

Miss MacKenzie and P3M

We have been working in teams to create snowmen in PE! We had to use creativity skills. We had a table with 14 letters on it and we had to make words out of the letters. There were points at the top of the letters and we had to keep track of our points.

We had to do a physical activity such as lunges and after the activity was completed you could collect one item to add to your snowman. There were things such as bean bags, hoops, hockey sticks, cones and bibs.

We had to work in a team as well as use stamina and respect and tolerance. We were working on lots of the significant aspects of learning!

Here are our snowmen.

Merry Christmas from us all and a Happy New year when it comes!

In Literacy we now know all of the single sounds and we are currently learning about the sounds sh and th. We learnt that we had to stick our tongue out a little bit to make a th sound and discovered that it was very easy to muddle up f and th! We have also been learning to blend sounds to write words and we all wrote our own stories about why Santa got stuck in the chimney! After that we enjoyed listening to each other’s stories because they were funny.

Last week we were sad to say goodbye to Mrs Lawson, a post graduate teacher student, who had taught us many exciting lessons with lots of fun learning activities over the last 6 weeks. We especially enjoyed our own Christmas Fair where we had turns at manning the stalls, taking money and paying for turns of the games. This brought together many of the money skills that we had been learning with Mrs Lawson such as coin recognition, addition and budgeting.

In numeracy we have been continuing to practise addition by finding out about different strategies we can use such as starting with the biggest number and counting on. After the holidays we will be leaning to subtract so any practise with counting backwards from 20 would be helpful.

Over the last two weeks we have investigated Christmas traditions through play. Some of our ideas included creating a Christmas house, making snow globes, writing letters, making envelopes, wrapping parcels, making cards, decorating a tree and making a post box. There was lots of great problem solving and teamwork as we helped each other with these activities.

Last week’s highlights, of course, were our wonderful performances of The Sleepy Shepherds. Our teachers were so proud of us for working hard to learn our parts and for showing such confidence in front of the audiences.

Have a lovely break everyone!
